So sorry for such an incredible loss to Kelly, family, friends and the CAF community. I had the honour of working with Kathy at the CFJSG/CFJOSG, deploying on numerous Ops, most memorably on an IST in Fujairah back in 2008 where she deployed as my Chief Clerk, and later as the head of the mounting cell at CFJOSG for many years. As a trusted friend an colleague, she always offered a sympathetic ear to vent frustrations to, a shoulder to cry on and a quick wit who never failed to leave a smile on your face at the end of the day. As a soldier she was a straight shooter, never shy of fighting for what was right, always looking after the welfare of troops, offering professional opinions as required and also capable of delivering a verbal "slap upside the head" as required. Kathy and I once suffered through a rather painful briefing together from a rather pompous type. Afterwards while discussing it, she told me that she really didn't like people who thought they were so important that they couldn't be replaced. As she put it, if you ever feel that way, put your hand in a bucket of calm water and watch what happens when you pull it out. That has stuck with me for many years as a great truth. But, as with all great truths, there are exceptions. Rest in peace Kathy, you where one of a kind. Someone can fill your spot, but you will never be replaced.
