Obituary of Donald Leighton Parks

Parks, Donald Leighton
1941 - 2019
It is with great sadness that we announce Don's unexpected passing. Surrounded with love by his family, Don left us peacefully on Tuesday July 30, 2019 at Kingston Health Sciences Centre - KGH.
Beloved husband of 51 years and best friend of Patricia. Devoted father of Jeff (Melissa) Parks and Stacey Parks Boulton. Amazing and much loved "Bobbie" of Jill, Caitie and Brandon. Loving brother of Wally (Barb) Parks. Predeceased by his parents, Zellah and Clarence Parks.
A graduate of Queen's University (BA, MEd), Don was a respected and well loved principal of 35 years in the L.D.S.B. During those years, he forged many lifelong friendships with colleagues and former students. His love of life, sense of humour, kindness, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew him. Don's greatest joy in life was his family. Always together with his wife Pat, they enjoyed live theatre, socializing with friends, and many happy winters in Florida. Most of all, his greatest joy was his love for his grandkids. Always ready to play, and at their beck and call, he lit up their world. Don was born with a green thumb and was an avid golfer, a talented musician, a card shark, and the ultimate handyman. They broke the mould when they made Don.
A special thank you to the compassionate team of doctors and nurses at the CSU at KGH.

As much as he was loved, he will be missed even more.

Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Blvd.) Tuesday August 6th from 1 - 4 pm. and 7 - 9 pm. A private family burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Don's name can be made to the charity of your choice.
