Obituary of George Wilson Elliott

CWO (R’td) George Wilson ELLIOTT, MMM, CD2 –

Dec. 30, 1934-July 7, 2019

It is with great sadness we tell of the passing of our beloved Papa.  Enrolling in the Canadian Provost Corps in 1952, and retiring in 1989 from the Canadian Forces Military Police after 37 years of dedicated and distinguished service, Dad served with the Provost Corps and Security Branch in Montreal, Soest (Germany), Antwerp (Belgium), Vancouver, Shilo, London (England), Petawawa, Borden, North Bay and Ottawa. Among his many accolades the family was most proud of Dad being appointed the Order of Military Merit in 1984, and the dedication of the Military Police Lounge, Canadian Forces School of Intelligence and Security in Borden in 2002 (thereafter known as the CWO Elliott Lounge).  Retiring as the RSM from the Military Police School at CFB Borden in 1989, he went on to further serve with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in Kingston for almost 12 years.  An adored husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, he is predeceased  by his wife of 60 years, Carmina (nee Wright), his parents Martha and George W. Elliott, his sister Marlene Cutler (Don), his brother Keith Foster (Charmaine) .  He is survived by his daughters Sandra Christie (Jim), and Teresa Smith (Mike), and will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Lana and Patrick, and great grandchildren Benjamin, Olivia and Dakota, and by many brothers & sisters-in laws, nieces and nephews on Mina’s side. All are welcome to the service to be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME (1900 John Counter Blvd) on Saturday, July 13th, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.  Friends and family will be received prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:50 p.m., as well as a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre immediately following the service. Cremation will already have occurred prior to the service.  Donations in George’s memory may be made to the Military Police Fund for Blind Children.
