Hello from Victoria, BC. We were just reading the latest Queens Alumni Review Magazine. Our sincere condolences to the Campling family on the loss of Charles Campling. I trained as a nurse with Laura Campling back in 1981- 1983 at St Lawrence College in Kingston after completing a psychology degree at Queens. My husband Bob had Charles as one of his professors in electrical engineering at Queens. He graduated class of 84. We have such fond memories of both Charles and Laura. We had a couple of dinners at their home. Very generous hosts to starving students! Bob said Charles’ class was his favourite. We have lived in Victoria since 1986 and raised our two boys here. I am recently retired as an RN, and Bob is a contractor after many years with the BC government. If Laura wants to get in touch, I would love to reconnect! I'm so very sorry to hear about this. I have many, many happy memories of summers at Buck Lake with Chuck & Laura. He was a gracious and fiercely intelligent man, with a wonderful wit. I am sadly unable to attend the service and visitation, but I send my love and condolences to your family.

It was a great honor to work with the family. Theres lots of memories during the years we provided care for Chuck and Laura. Knowing the family, and Chuck,we know He live a life to the fullest. We heard all thier exciting travels and serving thier happy hours ( Cheese and wine), Going to Chez Piggy for thier Lunch date is a highlight of thier Sunday day out. Chuck Never fail to joke No matter what his day like.. Hes a Happy person full of surprises. He always have smile in his face the minute he wake up in the morning. He will be missed dearly. I was the coordinator of the « French in residence » program at Queen’s in 1979/80 and would host a weekly « table française » at Ban Righ cafeteria where students would gather informally to speak French during dinner accompanied by a glass of French wine. We were delighted when Chuck joined us as a « regular » where he enthusiastically participated in our discussions, at first in halting French with an adoring accent but always with such fascinating stories that became the hilites of our dinners. After reading this beautiful obituary (thank you my friend Bob Campling for sending this to me), I have learned that this wonderful talented man went on a few years later to obtain a BA in French. How amazing is that? I feel so privileged to have met him and I offer my heartfelt condolences to all of his family and friends,
