Obituary of Barbara Ann Rance
RANCE, Barbara Ann
It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Rance announces her sudden passing in Kingston on May 24, 2019 at the age of 84. Barb was the beloved wife and best friend of Tom for 61 years, cherished mother of Fred (Katrina), Doug, Susie (Chris), Trish (Mike) and Lynda (Don), and dear grandmother of Miriam, Dean, Laura and Jeremy. She was predeceased by her sister Judy Ticehurst (George) and parents Doug and Olive Dean.
A woman of quiet grace, strength and unassuming generosity, Barb took pleasure in finding small ways to express love and thoughtfulness to her family, friends and the many communities of which she was a part. In spite of her health challenges in recent years, she never stopped engaging fully in life and touching lives, through singing, gardening, swimming (in all five Great Lakes one summer!), volunteering, feeding others, enjoying nature, modestly sharing her experience, forever learning, and welcoming all she met.
A celebration of Barb's life will be held at the JAMES REID RECEPTION AND CELEBRATION CENTRE, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Sunday, June 9th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, with words of remembrance at 2:30 PM. All are welcome. (Please enter the Reception Centre from the rear parking lot). A celebration will also be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11th at Trinity United Church in Uxbridge, where Barb and Tom lived for 33 years. If you wish to make a donation in memory of Barb, she would have appreciated support of the Kingston Chapter of Parkinson Canada or the Oak Ridges Trail Association.
