Obituary of Joan Depever
DEPEVER, Joan (nee OUGH)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Mum, Nana and Great Nana. Joan passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Helen Henderson Lodge where she received compassionate and loving care. She will now join her beloved Rolly who passed away August 4, 2013. She will always be missed by her loving son Ross of Vancouver, her loving daughter Lynn Mortimer of Kingston, her devoted son-in-law Brian Mortimer, her cherished grandchildren Christy (Aaron), Kevin (Lisa), Nikki (Joel) and Scott (Carling) and great-grandchildren Zac, Eli, Charlotte and Penny; Chloe and Noah; and Avery. She will also be remembered by her nieces and nephew.
Joan was born in Cardiff, South Wales and worked as a secretary in a shipping yard during WWII. At this time she met Rolly who was a Canadian serviceman. In April of 1950 she bravely left her home to come to Canada and on July 1, 1950 she and Rolly were married. Joan was always by his side during their many military moves. Family was always of the utmost importance, treasuring each generation as they came along. Joan and Rolly enjoyed spending time with family, planning trips and exploring the world together.
Joan's family will receive friends at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Monday, April 29 between the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, April 30 at 10:30 am., with Pastor David Brown officiating. A private family interment service will follow at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Children's Wish Foundation in Mrs. Depever's memory.
