Heasler, Celia (nee Dickie)

Celia Heasler
Celia was born in Stewiacke, N.S in 1924 to her late parents Albert and Edna Dickie. She lived at home until the age of 17 when she joined the Woman’s Army Core and became a dental assistant.
After working in the Army Core, she worked as a dental assistant to Dr. Layton in Truro, N.S until 1951 when she joined the Air Force where she continued to work as a dental assistant until she met and married her husband Hugh, on January 27, 1955. Celia stayed special friends to “Skip” Depever who she met at CFB Cold Lake, AB and she still had kept in contact with in Kingston.
One of Celia’s favourite memories was her children as babies and growing up. She also loved travelling and had a few trips that really built great long-lasting memories from. France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. It was always nice to return home to Stewiacke and Halifax to visit with family and friends. Celia often said her favourite things to talk about were “babies, babies and babies!! I love babies”. Celia loved long walks and her soap opera “As the World Turns”. The Heasler house was always filled with family for Celia’s cooking and dinners. She loved to host the family and friends and cook for everyone. Celia however only had two real dislikes in life; when people swear and camping! Camping was not fun for Celia after a long trip that had rained for 8 of the 10 days in British Columbia as the children were young.
Celia will be missed by many and remembered by all who she had met and crossed paths with.
Cremation has taken place at the James Reid Crematorium with service held on Saturday April 20th, 2019. Donations would be kindly appreciated to the War Amps, Heart and Stroke or the Alzheimer’s Society.
