BARNETT. Edgar A.  M.D.
Passed away peacefully, in the early hours of Saturday, March 2nd, 2019 after a brief illness at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Margaret. Survived by children Carolyn Barnett (Clint), Nigel, Judi Goldie (David), granddaughters Sarah Goldie (Ryan) and Kirsten Goldie (Chad), great-grandsons Trent and Kaden and his dear friend Elizabeth Smith. Edgar Barnett M.D., CCFP, physician and surgeon, therapist and author, devoted the greater part of his career to his specialty and passion…..hypnotherapy. Dr. Barnett practiced hypnotherapy for over fifty years and has traveled around the world speaking and lecturing on the subject. He also coined the term 'Analytical Hypnotherapy'.  Born in London, England in 1925 where he was in family medicine until he emmigrated to Canada in 1966. He continued with family medicine until 1975 devoting the rest of his career to hypnotherapy and psychotherapy until retiring at the age of 89. Among his many positions he was Chairman of  the Department of Family Practice at Kingston General Hospital and also Past President of Medical Staff of Kingston General Hospital. Many thanks to the ambulance crew and the doctors and nurses of the E.R. and the staff on Connell 10 for their kind and gentle care. The family will receive friends at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Sunday, March 10 between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm.  The funeral service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, March 11 at 1:30 pm, with The Reverend Canon David Clunie officiating. A reception will follow in the James Reid Reception Centre. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation in Dr. Barnett's memory.
