Obituary of Betty Calvert

CALVERT, Beatrice (Betty) Nina

1921-2019

The family announces with deep sadness the passing of Betty Calvert (née Fournier) on 22 January 2019 at the age of 97.

            Pre-deceased by parents W. A. (Gus) Fournier and Grace (Sansom), brother Claude, sister Joan and dear husbands Joseph Hawley, Alfred Gaunt and Hugh Calvert, Betty is survived by her sister Marjorie, daughter JoAnne Hawley, son Alex Hawley, cherished daughter-in-law Brenda, two grandchildren Julia (Jim) Chronopoulos and Alana (Jonathan) Hawley Purvis, and five great-grandchildren.

            Known to her nieces and nephews as ‘Aunt Bette’ and to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as ‘Nanny’, Betty is lovingly remembered by family and many others for her passion for gardening and golf, and for her love of life and family. The family especially thanks the staff at Brooks Landing where Betty spent the latter years of her life in great contentment. 

            Betty will be remembered at a Healing Eucharist at St.George's Cathedral, 270 King Street East, Kingston on Thursday 4 April at 10:30am. All are welcome to attend. A Celebration of Life will take place at Glenburnie United Church, 1028 Unity Road, Glenburnie on Saturday 20 April at 1pm. Please join us.
