Funeral Directors

​JIM REID - Owner
Jim is the fourth generation of the Reid Family. He is a Graduate of Queen’s University and a Licensed Funeral Director. Jim has his OACFP Crematorium Training. Jim and the Funeral Home support about one hundred charities and organizations in Kingston. Jim is Honorary Colonel (Ret'd) with 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment at Canadian Forces Base Kingston and a Rotarian (Past President, Rotarian of the Year, and Paul Harris Fellow). Over the years he has been active with Kingston Jaycees, Junior Achievement, the Chamber of Commerce, hobby farming, the Masonic Order, St. Peter’s Harrowsmith, Hospice Kingston, Rideaucrest, and the Knightly Order of St. George.

SARAH REID HEDBERG - Assistant Manager

Sarah is the fifth generation of the James Reid family and is currently learning leadership from her dad, Jim. Sarah oversees the funeral home's advertising, online presence, health & safety, human resources, and aims to get to know a quarter of the people her dad knows in Kingston!
Sarah holds a Master of Arts in English from U of T and taught at Colleges in Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston and Portland Maine before returning to Kingston in 2012. She draws on her Bachelor of Social Work from McGill to lead the Bereavement Support Program at James Reid's. Sarah loves her teenage boys, walking the family dog "Milo," and escaping into the written word, preferably by water.  


DOROTHY "DODI" TRIMBLE-HAYES -Assistant Manager 

Dodi was born and raised in Toronto and became a licensed funeral director in 1997. Dodi has worked at the James Reid Funeral Home since September 1997. In 2014 she attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. She is very involved with the Parent Council at the school where her children attend.

DAVID HOPPER was born and raised in Scarborough and has been a licensed funeral director since 1981. David has been with the James Reid Funeral Home since 2006. In 2014 he attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. In his spare time he enjoys playing hockey, golf, and enjoys many outdoor activities.

HEATHER JACKSON - Advanced Planning Director

Heather has been a licensed Funeral Director since 1990. She has a vast array of experience in funeral services ranging from At Need Director to Advanced Planning Director in both Toronto and Kingston. Heather has been in her present capacity as Advanced Planning Funeral Director since 2005 at the James Reid Funeral Home. Her compassion for the local community has been demonstrated throughout the years by her volunteerism for various charitable organizations including The Salvation Army

HAYLEY LEPAGE was born in Belleville, lived in Trenton, spent most of her adult years in Hamilton, and made Kingston her home in 2019 to be near family. She has been in the funeral profession since 2017, receiving her Funeral Directing and Embalming License from Humber College in 2020.  Hayley has attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. Hayley has great passion for her work and is very thankful to be able to be part of the James Reid team. When Hayley has time off she loves to spend time with her fiancée, family and her cats. 

JENNIFER MORGAN was born and raised in Kingston. She attended St. Lawrence College, earning a diploma in accounting. She used that knowledge to work in insurance for many years before deciding to pursue her Funeral Director’s License in 2016, obtaining it from Humber College in 2018. Jennifer has attended the OACFP Crematorium Training Program and is a certified crematorium operator. Jennifer joined the James Reid team in 2020; she feels very privileged to serve the families she works with. In her free time, she likes spending time with her husband and three children, quilting and baking. Learn more about Jen in a 2022 video: 


DUNCAN JAMIESON was born in Alberta and has lived all over Canada from P.E.I. to Kirkland Lake, calling Kingston home since 2010. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History, compiled an extensive background in customer service, all the while dreaming of becoming a funeral director. In 2020 he graduated from Humber College and received his Funeral Director’s License. Duncan is very proud to serve families as part of the James Reid team. Duncan enjoys spending as much time as possible with his young family and reading and writing about his other passion, Canadian history.




CASSANDRA COLLINS was born in Nova Scotia, lived in Petawawa, then moved to Kingston. Cassandra graduated from Humber College and joined us in 2021. In her spare time she enjoys pampering her cat, Bean, going to the beach, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

THERESE BARRETT, Estate Care Provider and Bereavement Support Provider  

Therese has worked in many fields including running her own business, palliative care and bereavement. Therese has been volunteering since the age of six. She won the 2021 June Callwood Circle of Outstanding Volunteers award. She finds time to crochet and loves spending time with her dog. She and her husband have four wonderful children and enjoy precious time with their five grandchildren.

BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT

BARB MUNDELL, Bereavement Support Provider & Events Coordinator

Barb has lived and worked most of her life in the Kingston area.  Following her education and a long career at Queen’s University, she has been honoured to support the community in grief supporting families with Bereaved Families of Ontario (Kingston Region) and the Nanny Angel Network.   In her spare time, she can be found with family at the cottage and she loves to cook and paint.
