John Bates was my very first principal that I experienced as a student-teacher. He was JOHN to all his students,parents,and staff. Unheard of in those days calling your boss as by his first name....yikes.....he was ahead of his time for sure. Rest in peace John! Phil Egginton

We enjoyed many years of being John's neighbor. He was a man of many enthusiasms and a conversation with him was never dull. He will be missed.
