Obituary of Anthony GERAMITA
Anthony (Tony) Vito Geramita, 73, passed away on June 22, 2016 at Kingston General Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Tony is survived by his wife Joan, daughters Katharine and Nicole, son-in-law Mike Coury and grandchildren Sophia, Christopher, Isabella. He will also be missed by Niam Fazalyar, who has been a treasured member of the family since his arrival in Canada.
Tony's years as a professor of mathematics both at Queen's University in Canada and the University of Genoa in Italy, brought him a huge amount of joy and he considered many of his colleagues, students and collaborators more like family than co-workers. Outside of mathematics, Tony's interests in tennis, history, all things Italian, music and dancing, and general good times gained him many friends in many countries who will miss him very much.
Visitations at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, are on Sunday June 26 from 1:30-4:00 and 6:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral mass followed by a reception to celebrate his life and wish him a fond farewell, is on Monday, June 27 at 10:30 a.m., Providence Motherhouse Chapel, 1200 Princess Street.
In place of flowers, donations to one of the following hospitals that took such good care of Tony would be appreciated by the family: Mt. Sinai in Toronto ON, Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver BC, University Hospitals of Kingston Foundation in Kingston ON or, of course, to the charity of your choice.
