I’ve been out of touch with the CMS news so I just found out about Tony. I’m very sorry to hear about this. knew Tony for many years. We sat on many CMS committees together in the 90s; the Government policy committee, a committee on women in mathematics among others. He was always great to be around with, his joy of living was contagious. I’ve always really liked him and looked forward to seeing him at meetings. My belated condolences to the family.

This is a belated farewell. I knew Tony from undergraduate school at CCNY. Tony was the president of our fraternity and worked part-time at a sporting goods store. We played bridge together and listened to records of the 2000 year old man, laughing our heads off. Last time I saw Tony was at the Princeton School for Advanced Study. I met his wife and young family. I will never forget Tony. Rest in peace.

Tony was among my dearest friends ever since we first met in Kingston when I went for a PhD. I am going to miss him very, very much. No words can really express the feeling of loss. I will dedicate my next paper to him and propose the algebra session organizers of the 2016 Joint Meeting Brazil-Italy to dedicate it to him, being sure that so many other friends will follow suit. We first met Tony and Joan in our long-ago grad school days. They were such a cheerful and fun couple and incredibly generous with their time for students. We last met Tony at a math meeting in Halifax in 2014. Still cheerful as always in spite of his fight with cancer. Our deepest sympathies to Joan and all the family. Our thoughts are with you at this time.

Very sorry for your loss. I am an old high school friend of Nicole and Katharine's and wanted to pass on my support to all of you at this time. I understand how this feels.
