Obituary of Anna Elizabeth DAVIDSON
DAVIDSON, Anna Elizabeth
April 17, 1928 - May 28, 2016
Passed away suddenly but peacefully at Kingston General Hospital. Beloved wife of Douglas, devoted mother of John (Lydia), Linden (Suzanne), and Lorna Jean. Proud grandmother of Lauren (Wayland), Adrienne (Jordan), Graeme and Jennifer Davidson; Connor and Adam Davidson; Anna Jane and Matthew Edmonds; special grandma to Hana (Daniel) Fehrenbach and great-grandmother to Hermione and Elisa. Fondly remembered by Mark Edmonds, Sam Hughson and Michael Bowkett. Anna was the last surviving member of a family of 10 children raised on a farm near Baldur, Manitoba. Her early work as a young schoolteacher took her north to Fort Churchill, where she met, fell in love and married Doug. She followed him to various military postings across the country before settling in Ottawa where they lived for almost 45 years before moving to Kingston to be closer to family. She enjoyed many friends and acquaintances through her military associations, from her interests and activities in curling, bridge, her neighbourhood and the many wonderful summers spent at the cottage on Pike Lake. She firmly established herself as the family matriarch, a role performed with grace, confidence and good nature and was at her happiest asking about, listening to and planning for the futures of her numerous and valued progeny. A celebration of life will be held in the RECEPTION CENTRE at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, Kingston, (please enter from rear parking lot), on Saturday, June 4, from 3 - 5 pm, words of remembrance at 3:30 pm. Inurnment will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, The National Cemetery of Canada, Ottawa, at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Anna's memory may be made to The Arthritis Society or charity of your choice.
