Obituary of Frances Kathleen Huff

Frances Kathleen Huff died in Kingston, Ontario, February 24, 2023. Frances was born November 21,1919, in Raleigh Township, Chatham Ontario, to Fred Burton (born 1896) and Kathleen (née Brown,1894). She was pre-deceased by her siblings Evelyn, Josephine, Marjorie, and Pat; her brother Fred still lives in Chatham. In 1940 she married James Ross Huff (1913 - 1985) and was the mother of (in 1941) Katheleen 'Kathy' Jane Banky (Jake), (1948) Margaret Ann 'Maggie' Huff-Rousselle (Barry) and (1953) Frances Elizabeth 'Liz' Huff (Jamie).

Frances was admired for her voracious appetite for reading and writing. Her many years of genealogical research revealed more than 400 years of her family history in Canada. Her friends and family cherish the essays and letters she sent, filled with her humorous contrarian spark and well-informed worldview. Her lifelong practical frugality and respect for planet biodiversity did not prevent her from traveling widely until she was in her 90s.
