Obituary of Barbara Jane Caldwell

Barbara Caldwell (nee Park) was released from a battle with Alzheimer’s on March 16, 2022, at age 79.  Survived by sons Skot (Tammy) and Doug (Ashley). Barb, Bard, Granny was passionately attached to her grandchildren, Abby, Harper, Robin, Nolan, Emily, and Jackson as well as her brother David’s children and grandchildren. To her final days, she never ceased to find joy in any and all little kids.

Barb was interested in everyone! She was a booster and mentor and networker to many in her family and community; a champion of financial independence and entrepreneurship among women; a fundamentally kind neighbor.

In the mid-'70s, Barb swallowed a lot of fear to begin a manufacturing company that was later hailed as one of the best in the country to work for.  While growing her business she also worked to grow her people, many of whom were new Canadians. She deeply understood the particular weight women carried in being both earners and caregivers.  She never missed a hockey practice but also taught her sons how to do their own laundry.

Predeceased by Bob Pritchard, the love of Barb’s life, together they made a happy life of adventure and service. Mum loved being a part of the Pritchard clan.

Our family is deeply appreciative of all Barb received at Waterford Residence, at Rideaucrest Home, and from her caregiver, poling pal, and dear friend, Karen Bayne.

A memorial event will happen at a later date. In remembering Barb, please consider a donation to organizations she was actively involved with: Kingston United Way or the Community Foundation of Kingston.
