Obituary of Allan Jack Tattersall
With sorrow we note the passing of Col. (ret.) Allan Jack Tattersall, peacefully, on Sunday December 29, 2019. Allan is predeceased by his first wife of 57 years, Dianne ( Preston). Al and Dianne live on in their four children John (Clarice), Alan (Lucinda), Peter (Janet), Stephanie (Justin) and their 11 grandchildren. Al was grateful for the lifelong support and love of his extended family including brother Jim (Ethel), Jim's four children and their partners, and niece and nephew Carol and Wayne.
Allan's life was enriched in his later years by the gift of new love and a wonderful marriage with his current wife, Christina DeSantis. Allan was very fond of Christina's extended family, was grateful too for the warm acceptance he found with them, for their loving part in his and Christina's life together. Christina is joined in mourning Allan's passing by her children, Anthony (Linda), Gloria (Joe), Steve (Angie), Cynthia (Randy) and by her seven grandchildren.
Allan is remembered as a loving companion, father, grandfather and brother. He was a long serving member of the Canadian Armed Forces, past president of the Rideau Trail Association, an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed over fifty years of hunting and fishing at the family cottage, the "Tatts Trap", in Northern Ontario. Hiking. Skiing. White and flat water canoeing. Friends, travel, a life overseas and in Canada that was full of improbable adventure. Al's life was lived real, was lived as large as the stories he was able to share.
Allan's family wishes to express heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful team at the Kingston General Hospital, who provided care and comfort when he needed them.
A private celebration of life for Allan was held on 2 January, 2019.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be directed to the "Wounded Warriors" or "Soldier On" foundations, in support of Canadian Military veterans.
