Obituary of John Derek McKendry

In the evening of winter solstice, a gentle soul joined the stars in the night sky on December 21, 2018. John Derek McKendry, born 11 September 1969 on his grandmother Ruth’s birthday, beloved son of Jennifer McKendry of Kingston and grandson of Blake McKendry, both grandparents deceased. Nephew of David and Nancy McKendry of Ottawa, cousin of Ian McKendry of Belleville and Martin McKendry of Ottawa. John died in Kingston General Hospital and thanks for their care are offered to the ambulance, ER and Connell 10 staff. Also to Dr McDonald and Dr Lomax. John recently enjoyed a Christmas gathering hosted by Community Living Kingston & District (CLK) and many of his support staff and others kindly visited him in his last days. We offer deep gratitude for the years of assistance from CLK and, in recent years, for the organizational skills and personal kindness of Sherry Jarvis and her family.

There was no formal ceremonial aspect commemorating his passing and he now rests beside his grandparents in Cataraqui Cemetery.
