Obituary of Pearl Garrett

PEARL ALMA GARRETT (NEE ILAN)

February 14, 1922 - October 1, 2018

With her last card signed, the last cup of tea poured, the last slice of pie served,

our forever Valentine, our priceless PEARL, has claimed her final home.

Born in Matawatchan, Ontario to John and Lizzie Ilan, Pearl is predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.

Since 1998, Pearl continued living at the Inverary family farm, after the passing of her husband of 56 years, Manford (Sandy). In 2007 she relocated to Mississauga, first to Heritage Glen, a retirement village for five years and subsequently to Silverthorn Care Community until the time of her passing. She is survived by her three children; Beverley (Ron) Orr; Stephen (Dianne) Garrett; Valerie (Ralph) Browne.  Along with her nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, her family would be pleased to visit with you at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston Friday, October 5th, from 4 pm to 7 pm.

A celebration honouring Pearl's life of faith will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 2 p.m. at Kingston Gospel Temple, 2295 Princess Street. Her immediate family will welcome guests prior to the service. Immediately following guests are invited to meet those generations whom she has nurtured.  We honour Pearl's signature, country hospitality, with a reception which must include the fore-mentioned "cup of tea and slice of pie".

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pearl's memory may be made to Kingston Gospel Temple or The Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto.

There will be a private family interment.

"…well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality…helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds."  1 Timothy 5:10 NASV
