I was an International student and I rented a basement apartment from dear Imma Garofalo.
She was the kindest and loveliest. She was like a second mother to me.
I remember when I was very ill and I couldnt work or attend my classes at Queens University, she would make some soup for me and check up on me and when I was struggling to come up with the money for rent, she gracioulsy waived the rent for that month.
To say she was kind would not do her justice. As a student, she would ask me if I am eating healthy and every now and then, would invite me to join her for a delicious lunch or dinner she had prepared.
So many wonderful memories.
So today I just found out she had passed on as I visited Kingston from Ottawa with my family. I know she would have loved to see my daughter and meet my wife and I wish I got to see her one last time.
So I would like to pay tribute to a great woman - Thank you Imma, for your kindness, your patience, for believing in me, for everything.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
- Ken
