Clark, Robert William - June 12, 1937 - Feb 26, 2016 - Kingston Entrepreneur - Two-time recipient of the Businessman of the Year Award - Bob, in his 79th year passed away Friday, February 26th, 2016 at Kingston General Hospital. Bob was preceded in death by his loving wife Myrna (Benson) on January 18th 2013. Bob and Myrna spent their adult lives together building and operating Worthington Park, Kingston's overnight cruise ship, the Canadian Empress and Aunt Lucy's Dinner House. They travelled much of the world in their younger and middle years and focused on Europe, South East Asia, the Orient and South America. Bob and Myrna will be remembered for their unfailing optimism, loyalty, kindness, perseverance and their love for natural surroundings. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Thea Clark and by his sisters, Anne Louise Barratt (Late Jack), Ida Mae MacPherson and his brother Jim (Pat). Bob will be fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Jason Clark (Mandy), Shillane Labbett (Simon) of Kingston and Robert Barratt (Linda), Tom Barratt, Bill Barratt (Karen), Chris Barratt, Andrea Fitzau (Andrew), Leigh Anne Barratt, Trevor MacPherson (Judy), Tom MacPherson, Andrea MacPherson (deceased), Cathy Fletcher (Roger) and Tim MacPherson (deceased) of British Columbia. Bob will also be missed by Myrna's Aunt and the Benson cousins. Bob and his family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone that has been involved with his care and well-being for the past few years. In keeping with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes are to be joined with those of Myrna and their 2 dachshunds. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 4th at JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME at 1900 John Counter Boulevard. Visitation is to begin at 10am and the Memorial is to commence at 11am. A reception will follow in the James Reid Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers a donation to Cystic Fibrosis Canada or University Hospitals Kingston Foundation would be appreciated.
