Obituary of John Orville COX

John Orville Cox was born in Kingston, ON, December 19, 1940 and passed away peacefully on February 11, 2016. His kind spirit, generosity, talent, and sense of humour will be treasured by all those whose lives he has touched. John enjoyed singing and playing the guitar and volunteering for church and sporting events. Hockey was his favourite sport whether he was playing on the ice or watching a game with his family. John is survived by his wife Grace; daughters Cathy Whalen (Jay), Shelley Cox (Murray) and son Jeff (Jennifer); grandchildren Colby Sweet, Nathan and Reed Whalen, and Jacob and Calla Cox; sisters Delesslyn Costello (late Merv), Mildred Potter (Stan), Margo St. Antoine (Joe), Dianne Johnston (Garnett); brother Rodney Cox (Judy); sister-in-law Doris Randall (late Jim) and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Tuesday, February 16th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 11:00am. John will be laid to rest at the Cataraqui Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in John' s memory may be made to the U.H.K.F. (St. Mary s of the Lake Hospital, Palliative Care) or to the Kingston Standard Church.
