Obituary of Shirley HEARD

HEARD, Shirley (nee: Ball)- Long-time Employee of the Kingston Whig Standard- Suddenly at home, surrounded by the love of her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Shirley passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at the age of 78. Beloved wife of 55 years to Roger Heard. Loving Mother of Joanne Brown (Jim) and Heather Melvin (Shaun McAlister). Proud Grandmother of Adam Eves and Shawn Melvin and Great grandmother of Alayah Eves. Shirley is the dear sister of Ken Ball (Gail) and she will be sadly missed by Al Melvin and by her nieces and nephews. A heartfelt thank you is extended to Dr. Kain and Anna Rider, to Dr. Harle and the staff of Kidd 9 and to the Home Care nurses for their compassion and the care that Shirley received. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30am. Interment to follow the service at Christ Church Cemetery. For those who wish donations in Shirley' s memory may be made to the U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre of SE ON), in lieu of flowers.
