Obituary of Stanley David SIMKINS

SIMKINS, Stanley David Retired, long time Alcan employee Following a lengthy illness, Stan died peacefully at his farmstead in Elginburg, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Stan Simkins, in his 92nd year, beloved husband of Aley (nee Eastman) for 70 years. Dear father of Cathy Burridge (late Fred), Norman Simkins (Linda), Janice Simkins (Brian Wood) and Carolyn Simkins (John Raine). Loving grandfather of Tina (Mark), Shari, Lisa (Todd), Adam (Rebecca), Jacob, Michalic (Bryce) and great grandfather to April, Lucas and Owen. Fondly remembered by numerous friends and family, including his spiritual family at Trinity United Church in Elginburg. Stan is predeceased by his parents, Chancey and Ethel (nee Reid) Simkins and by his sister Norma Catherine, in infancy. Family and friends will be received at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Tuesday, January 26, between the hours of 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral service in the Chapel on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:30 am, with Reverend Stephen Ambury officiating. Following the interment at Cataraqui Cemetery, all are welcome to a reception and light refreshments at the United Church Hall in Elginburg. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Trinity United Church, Partners in Mission Food Bank or U.H.K.F. (Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario), in Mr. Simkins' memory.
