My sympathies go out to Margaret and the Bracken family. It was my privilege to know George and he will surely be missed by many. I enjoyed the times that I had tea and many cookies with George and Margaret and will forever treasure the hand carvings I received from George.

Dear Margaret and family,
I am so very sad to hear of George's passing. I had the great good fortune to meet George and Margaret and family about 20 years ago and think of George every time we make a trip to the "Bracken" property.

My special thoughts and prayers are with George, Margaret and their family. George was a wonderfully generous neighbour, always ready to go the extra mile.
Whether it involved heavy lifting or bringing together our little community to discuss common challenges, George was always there. I treasure the small and unique wood carvings George made for Patsy and me over many years.
George has joined the Heavenly Host of those who have gone before us. I pray that Margaret and his family will be kept in the hollow of God's hand.
With heartfelt condolences and love,
Bob Fleming

My deepest condolences to Margaret and all the family. Thanks to my father (John Pierce, OLS) I am the proud owner of a G. Bracken carving. It sits proudly with other carvings that Dad collected and is now joined by somewhere carvings by my husband! My most abiding and constant memory of George was his smile. He always seemed to be smiling and when he chuckled, it was from the heart. Some of Dad's survey colleagues could be intimidating - but never George. Even as a child, I knew that he was definitely one of the good guys! My sympathize again.

I was George s draftsman in the mid eighties, he was a kind and generous man, a true gentleman, a gentle man. Every time I pass through Smith s Falls I think of George. He has left a large gaggle of Brackens who must miss him terribly but will cherish his memory forever. My heartfelt condolences to you Margaret and the rest of the family.

To Margaret Bracken and Family. I am truly sorry for your loss. George and I carved at neighbouring benches at the Kingston Senior's Centre for several years and I was a great admirer of his skills and artistry. He will be missed, but his carvings and his memory will continue to be inspirations to others. Ron Mattey, Gatineau, QC.

I was saddened to hear of your loss. Mr Bracken impressed me - seeming to embody all the "virtues of civilized life: tolerance, kindness, energy, civility, integrity" in a life well lived. How wonderful that he enjoyed such a happy life surrounded by the people he loved. I know he will be missed. You are in my thoughts. Jane Campbell, Elgin
