Tom, formerly of Winchester, ON, a quiet, kind, gentle, caring man passed away suddenly at the Kingston General Hospital shortly after his 80th birthday. He will be greatly missed by his family; wife of 51 years, Irene B. MacLean (Butt), son Bruce MacLean, and daughter Alison Darrach (Michael) as well as much loved granddaughters Ainsley and Charlotte. Tom was the son of the late Dr. Dugald L. MacLean and Dorthey H. MacLean (Gillmoure). Brother of Judy Stringer (Eric) of Bridgewater, N.S. and Dianne Pollock (Bill) of Winchester. Predeceased by his brother, the late James MacLean (Patricia) of Winchester. Brother-in-law to Jack Butt (Heather). Uncle to Katrina Stringer, Paul Stringer (Michelle), Rob Pollock (Karen) and Kim Machan (Andrew), Ian Butt (Yvonne) and Craig Butt (Rhea). Also survived by several grandnephews and a grandniece. Friends and family were invited to visit the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Blvd. in Kingston, ON on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 from 1:00 pm to 1:50 pm. Funeral service was in the Chapel at 2:00 pm with Reverend Laurie McKnight officiating. A reception followed in the Reception Centre. Private inurnment later with immediate family. Tom battled with dementia for the last eight years. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Kingston, a source of support for Tom and his family over the last few years or, University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.
