Obituary of Donald William HAMILTON

HAMILTON, Donald William 1943 - 2016 Passed peacefully in his home surrounded by friends and family on Sunday, August 14. A deeply compassionate and caring person to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Shelagh, his children Doug, Kathy, Terry, and Jackie, grandchildren Arika and Nathan, and siblings Tom, Mary Louise, Pat, Mike, Barb, Jerri, Peter, Cathi, and Dan. He follows his mother, father, and younger brothers Richard and Chris to walk in the light of the Lord. A respiratory therapist by profession, Don 's work took him from his hometown of Kingston to Halifax, Toronto, Vancouver, and California. He considered his time as Director of Respiratory Therapy at Oakland Children' s Hospital a highlight of his career. A lifelong volunteer, talented cook, and perpetual life of the party, he brought joy to all who knew him. Blessed are the compassionate, for they shall receive compassion. Visitation at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Wednesday August 17, between the hours of 2:00 4:00 pm and 7:00 -9:00 pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3 Briscoe Street, in Amherstview, on Thursday, August 18 at 11:00 am. Cremation followed by the Rite of Committal at St. Linus Catholic Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to U.H.K.F. (Providence Manor Redevelopment Fund), Canadian Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice.
