BUTLER, Walter Eric
Unexpectedly, yet peacefully, at Arbour Heights Long Term Care, with Joan (nee Fox), his loving wife of 67 years by his side, on Monday, August 1, 2016. Walter Butler, in his 90th year, dear father of David (Amelia), Bob (Carolyn) and Ron (Laurie), all of Kingston. Affectionately known as "Pops" to his adoring grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his dear sister Beatrice and brother Kenneth (Bud) and predeceased by brother Frank and sisters Shirley and Ruth. Remembered fondly by his nieces and nephews. Walt will forever be remembered as a loving and affectionate family man with an undeniable sense of humor. A man of admirable strength and resilience, his warmth and charm touched every soul he met. In accordance with Walter's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Friday, August 5 at 10:30 am, with Majors Wil and Catherine Brown-Ratcliffe officiating. Inurnment at Cataraqui Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 am until 10:20 am, and during a reception in the Reception Centre following the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to The Salvation Army (Kingston Citadel) or The Heart and Stroke Foundation, in memory of Mr. Butler.
