Obituary of Richard Grant MILNER

MILNER, Dr. Richard Grant December 16, 1952-July 10, 2016 It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard at his home following a sudden illness. Rick is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Margaret. He was very proud of his two children: Lindsay (Marc Wrobel), and Christopher (Michelle Heaps). He will be sorely missed by his loving parents, Joan and Howard; his brother, Bryan (Pat), parents-in-law, Phil and Marian Neatby; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Jennifer) and Perry (Anne); sister-in-law, Barb; nieces, Shawna (Blake), Courtney (Lyndsey), Dayna, Patricia (Mark), Antonia; and nephews, David, Stewart and Philip. Rick has been a family physician in Kingston for over thirty years, and Lead Physician of the Maple Family Health Team for the past eleven years. He loved family times, golf, skiing, cycling with Bryan, building projects with Charlie and Karl, and time at the cottage. He was a mentor to many of his colleagues, and found his work as a family doctor very fulfilling. The family would like to express our thanks to all of Rick's caregivers at Kingston General Hospital, to CCAC, and to the many wonderful friends and neighbours who have helped in so many ways at this difficult time. Funds are being raised in honour of Dr. Richard Milner (Meds 81) to support an endowed award for Family Medicine Residents in financial need. If desired, a donation may be made to Queen's University: Dr. Richard Milner Resident Award and mailed to, 102 Barrie Street, Kingston ON K7L 3N6 or online, at www.givetoqueens.ca/drmilner. Memorial donations may also be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to St. Thomas' Anglican Church. A private family celebration of Rick's life will take place following cremation.
