McWHIRTER, Cecile May
Peacefully at the Isabel and Arthur Meighen Manor in Toronto, on Sunday, June 19, 2016. Cecile (nee Dunbar), in her 91st year, beloved wife of Ed McWhirter who predeceased her in 2011. Dear mother of David McWhirter (Karen Black) of Toronto and Don McWhirter (Mary Gayle Dillon) of Campbell River, BC. Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters, Megan and Sarah McWhirter, and her lifelong friend Edith Gould. Fondly remembered by niece Joan Fuller, nephews Bill and Jim Dunbar and by step grandson Shane Copeland. Survived by her sister Nancy Evelyn Dunbar. Predeceased by parents David and Edith (nee Walker) Dunbar and brothers David and Lloyd Dunbar. Cecile will be remembered for her commitment and involvement in numerous community organizations in Kingston, as well as at her church, the former St. Margaret's United Church. A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard, on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:30 am, with Reverend Bill McAuslan officiating. Cecile's family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 am until 11:15 am, and during a reception which will follow the interment at Cataraqui Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Society or Canadian Cancer Society, in Mrs. McWhirter's memory.
