Obituary of Peter John Hamilton

Peter passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Monday January 4, 2021.  Peter loved his family more than anything and treasured his time spent with them. To know him was to like him. His faith was an important part of his life. He was a happy soul, who enjoyed singing and joking around. Peter spent many happy times at the cottage (his paradise) with family and friends. He was his grandkids biggest fan and could always be found at their events, cheering loudly. He enjoyed his trips abroad and treasured his visits to Montebello and Sanibel Island. Peter loved to play cards; his trips to the casino and always looked forward to his “mafia” lunches with his brothers. He believed in giving more than receiving and showed this through volunteering at the food bank, food sharing project and sharing stories of his Sydenham adventures at the Lakes and Trails Festival. Peter worked at Bell Canada for 35 years and cherished the friendships he made.  

Peter leaves behind his loving wife Cathy, who he always made laugh; his children Shawn(Queenie), Leigh(Dean), Ian(Jen) and the joys of his life, his grandkids Matthew, Hayden, Hayley, Claire and Brock. Siblings Mike(Donna), Pat(Linda), Barb(Harry), Jerry(Irwin), Cathi(Dale), Dan(Heather), sister-in-laws Lorraine, Shelagh, Barb, Patricia(Mark) and niece Lauren. Predeceased by siblings Tom, Richard, Don, Louise and Chris. He will be missed by Brad, Stan and many nieces and nephews. Thanks to nurse Tanya, Dr. Priesnitz and Dr. Kain.  A  Memorial mass and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or the Sydenham food bank.
