Obituary of Wilda Marjorie Helen Reilly

WILDA MARJORIE HELEN REILLY
1927 – 2020

Wilda Marjorie Helen Reilly (nee Barkley) passed away peacefully at Providence Care Hospital on August 19, 2020 at 93 years of age. Wilda was born on April 14,1927 in Winchester, Ontario to William and Bessie Barkley (nee Brown), the youngest of six children. She was raised in Winchester and attended the Wesleyan Methodist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour. Upon graduation from High School, Wilda went to Teacher’s College in Toronto. Her first teaching position was in a one-­room schoolhouse in rural Mountain, Ontario. In 1954, Wilda married Arthur Reilly. Their married years began in Arnprior, Ontario, and in 1960 they moved to Ottawa where Wilda taught at various elementary schools; Alta Vista, Queensway and Agincourt. Wilda played the piano, was an avid quilter and knitter, enjoyed volunteering at the church library, and was active in Christian Women’s Club. During retirement, she and Arthur moved to Georgetown, Ontario, then later to Kingston, Ontario. Wilda is survived by her 2 children Brent (Ruth) Reilly and Loralyn (Paul) Gazdik;; 5 grandchildren;; 7 great grandchildren;; as well as nephews and nieces. She was pre-­deceased by her husband Arthur Reilly;; her brothers Robert Barkley and James Barkley, and her sisters Anna Maude Crowder, Alice Tupper, and Edna Barnes. Wilda will be greatly missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes can be made to Compassion Canada. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 at Bay Park Baptist Church, Kingston, at 2 pm with Rev. Brent Reilly officiating. Due to Covid-­19, pre-­registration is required to attend the service, as seating is limited.
