Obituary of Carole Carscallen

CARSCALLEN, Carole Barbara (Hunt) April 3, 1934 - August 13, 2023 Passed away peacefully at Kingston General Hospital, leaving her loving husband George of 62 years, daughters Kristen and Catherine, son-in-law Richard Smart and granddaughter Kate Smart. Carole was predeceased by her brother Thomas Wayne Hunt (Frances) and parents Richard and Marjorie (Dyer) Hunt. Carole had a special relationship with her granddaughter Kate, one that will always be remembered and treasured. Carole was loved by everyone she met. She welcomed everyone with kindness, an open door and a warm smile. She loved to spend time with her family and their many friends and was a gracious host to everyone at their home on Hill Island. Carole loved to play bridge and could talk her way through any game. She was an avid walker and treasured the friendship she developed with Carol Thompson through her walking group in Ottawa. Carole was a highly respected elementary school teacher for many years in Ottawa, influencing the lives of her students, their families and her colleagues. Following retirement, with daughters in university and George active in an engineering association, Carole enjoyed many trips and holidays readily making new friends wherever she went. The depths of sorrow we cannot tell Of the loss of one we loved so well; And while she sleeps a peaceful sleep, Her memory we shall always keep. Funeral service will be held at James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 Counter Street, Kingston on Friday, August 18, 2023 commencing with visitation at 2:00 pm and a service at 3 pm followed by a reception in the Reception Centre of the James Reid Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute or the Alzheimer Society would be gratefully acknowledged.
