Obituary of Gloria Jean Harper

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of our mom’s passing at the Kingston General Hospital on Tuesday May 2, 2023, in her 76th year.

Mom was born June 10, 1946 in Kingston, Ontario to Evelyn and Harold Bryant (both Predeceased). Sister to Harold (Isabel – predeceased), Shirley (Tim), Gerry (Sue), Evelyn, Judy (Rob), Debbie (Doug- predeceased), Joanne (Doug), Lewis – Predeceased (Joan) and many nieces and nephews.

Devoted wife of 21 years to Richard Charles Harper (predeceased). Loving Mother of Sherry (John), David (Denise), Kevin and Shawn. Grandmother of 16 and Great Grandmother of 13.

Mom was a long-time employee at Independent Grocer in Smiths Falls, Ontario. In her downtime she loved to spend her summers at her trailer in Hogan’s Haven Campground. Here she would enjoy the outdoors and insisted on preparing enough food to feed everyone.

She will be missed by everyone that had the good fortune to have her be a part of their life.

The family would like to thank all the health care workers that assisted with the care of our mom, from the cancer clinic, Bayshore & Saint Elizabeth care to all the staff at the Kingston General Hospital.

Cremation has taken place and at Mom’s request there will be no funeral service. A private interment will be held at the Cataraqui Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to CHEO- Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario.

Lastly to “Sister”, “Mom”, “Grandma” or “Great Grandma” – We love you and will miss you beyond words. While you may no longer be with us in body, we will keep your memory alive with our countless stories and memories.
