Obituary of Lorne Henry Long
It is with heavy hearts that we announce Lorne’s passing at the age of 66, on March 1, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family after a hard fought battle with cancer.
Lorne was born to parents George and Muriel Long in Kingston, Ontario July 14th of 1956. He leaves behind the love of his life of 44 years , Cathy (Nee Joyce) and son John. Remembered by his brothers Robert (Linda), Clint and his sister Julie, brother-in-law Robert Joyce as well as his nieces and nephews.
Dad’s passion was his family as well as his work. He loved spending as much time as possible with family, including many trips and lots of time at his cottage on Desert Lake where he could be found every Saturday morning out fishing for trout, with the dogs and anyone who wanted to join him, and his coffee and “fishing donuts” in hand. His job took him to destinations throughout the globe over the years and he was always available to take care of business any time of the day or night, he loved it.
We would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff at Providence Care Hospital, Heritage 2 for their outstanding care that Lorne received in his short stay there.
With respect to Lorne’s wishes, a Celebration of Life is to take place on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 3pm-5pm at the James Reid Funeral Home in the Reception Centre (Please enter through the doors on the rear of the building.) Lorne will be put to rest in a private family ceremony at Cataraqui Cemetery during another date. The family wishes that any donations be made to South Frontenac Community Services.
