Obituary of Grenville Henry Guthrie

Born in Wilmer Ontario, July 24,1928 

Grenville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family members on February 3, 2023.

Predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Lilla) in Oct 1994.

Son of Herbert and Jennie. Brother of Doris, Harold, McCaddon, Lillian, Norma (died in infancy), Irma, Eldon and Freda. 

Loving father of Henry (Mary), Karen (Dave), Jane (Keith), Sandra, James (Marie) and David (Wendy). Very special uncle of Robin (Jane), Lois (Greg), Michael, Donald (Ann) and Jennie (Mike).

Doting grandfather of Justin, Evan, Emily, Jillian Sadie, Liam, Nora and Campbell. Special great grandfather of Annabelle, Logan, Georgia and Oliver.   

In addition to his family, Dad's passions were his music and his faith. He was the first and only organist and choir director at Kingscourt United Church. As well he was the organist and choir director of the protestant chapel at Joyceville Institution.

Dad was also a farmer with a mixture of exotic beef cattle, pigs, turkeys, poultry and a large market garden. He also worked full time at the Coca Cola Bottling Company for over 40 years. If this wasn't enough to fill his days, Dad was also a volunteer firefighter in the village of Elginburg. 

Donations in Dad's memory can be made to the Elginburg United Church or the CNIB.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a service will be held on Saturday April 29 2023, at 11 am with a reception to follow at the James Reid Funeral Home 1900, John Counter Blvd, Kingston.
