Obituary of Jean Ellen Riches

Jean Ellen Riches (Nee McLachlan)

June 6, 1944 - October 22, 2022

Jean Ellen Riches died October 22, 2022 after a prolonged illness. She was born in Leeds, England on D-Day, June 6, 1944 to David and Dorothy McLachlan. At age 3, she immigrated to Kingston Ontario with her aunt and uncle, the late Jane and James Pollock. She is predeceased by her son James Riches, sister and brother-in-law Netta and Tom Kerr and her nephew Scott Kerr. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bob Riches as well as her daughter Rhonda (Carey) Anderson, granddaughter Victoria Gagnon (Alan) and Lynda Reid and her family. She was “Aunt Jean” to Alan (Gwen) Kerr, Valerie (Vince) Martin, Kevin (Debbie) Kerr and a great aunt to Jason, Lindsay, Laura, Ryan, Andrew and Hannah. Jean was a proud great-great aunt to Zoe, Frank, Jack and wee Gordie.

In keeping with Jean's wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home on Friday October 28, 2022 at 2:30 pm with visitation for an hour prior. Interment at Cataraqui Cemetery and a reception in the Reception Centre of the James Reid Funeral Home to follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Martha’s Table, The Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
