Obituary of Edward George Parrott
Surrounded by his loving family, Ted passed away peacefully at age of 88, on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Providence Care Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Emma (nee Hartvich) for 39 years. Cherished and loving stepfather of Les Deszpoth, Stephen Deszpoth (Cheryl), and George Deszpoth (Amanda). "Papa" to seven grandchildren Adam (Brandy), Lynda, Gabriella (Jack), Joel, Connor, Emily, Alex and 2 great grandsons Harrison and Wyatt.
Ted was born June 3, 1934, in Kingston and was raised on the family farm in Odessa by his loving parents Elgin and Grace Parrott. He was a long-standing Odessa native, before moving to Kingston later in life. He was an employee for over 30 years at Celanese in Millhaven. Ted was active in the community as a volunteer firefighter with Loyalist Township in Odessa for 22 years and was a long-standing member of both the Masonic Lodge and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). He was passionate about the causes the Oddfellows and Masons supported. Ted also enjoyed puttering around his garage, washing his truck, reading a good book and checking the weather and other fun facts on his Google Home. He will be missed most for his kind and loving character, his perpetual optimistic outlook and being happy with the simple pleasures in life.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the exceptional doctors, nurses and support staff at Providence Care Hospital and KGH, especially the staff on Parkside 1 at Providence Care Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will take place at The James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston on Friday August 12, 2022, from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. A Liturgy of the Word service will follow after 1:30pm in the James Reid chapel with Monsignor Joseph Lynch. The family will be hosting a reception in The James Reid Celebration Centre after the service to share some hospitality, laughs and fond memories of Ted.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations can be made in Ted’s honor to the UKHF – Providence Care Hospital or a local charity of your choice.
