Obituary of Carol Ellen McCaig

October 1,1963- June 17,2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Ellen McCaig (Thexton) of Tweed, Ontario. After a very short, but brave battle with cancer, Carol passed away peacefully at the age of 58 with her children by her side on Friday June 17,2022 at Kingston General Hospital.

Carol was born in Peterborough, Ontario on October 1,1963. Carol resided in Belleville, Ontario for most of her adult life. She attended Kenner CVI in Peterborough, Ontario and Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario. Carol was a dedicated mother to her children and in her free time loved to build. Carol was quite independent and there was not anything she could not build on her own. Carol found joy in helping stray cats and giving them loving homes.

Carol is survived by her children Dayna McCaig (Emily Parsons) of Dundurn, Saskatchewan, Joshua McCaig (Chantale De Paepe) of Sarnia, Ontario, Kristen McCaig (Canyon & Domino) of Calgary, Alberta, and Matthew O’Hara of Marmora, Ontario. Carol was the proud Grandma to Ryder and Miloh Parsons. She leaves behind her brother Stephen Thexton (Joanne Thexton) of Peterborough, Ontario. Carol is predeceased by both her parents Jim (James) and Elsie Thexton. Carol also leaves behind her four cats Max, Tequila, Meekah and Marlee which were her absolute world. Carol will be missed deeply by many cousins, nephews and friends .

Carol’s family would like to thank the staff at Kingston General Hospital in the KIDD 2 ICU for their amazing care and support during this difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place at a later date, all friends and family are welcome to attend. Donations can be made to the Quinte Humane Society in Carol’s memory.
