Sharon Ione Day of Kingston, ON. died January 10, 2022, in her 78th year.
Sharon was born in Cortland, New York, IN 1943. After traveling the States working odd jobs such as waitress at the Golden Nugget, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she settled in Ontario, Canada, to raise her family, and have a fulfilling career as Publications Writer at the Ministry of Health and Long-term Care in Kingston, ON. Sharon volunteered for several organizations including, the Teen Helpline. But her passion was in live theater where she played an active role and developed many lifelong friendships.
Sharon was an amazing woman with the strength and ability to persevere through all of life’s hardships and still come out on top. She was funny and witty and known for her sense of humor.
Sharon was passionate about many things and took an active role in righting what she saw as wrong. She enriched the lives of those whose lives she touched, and she was adored and loved by everyone who knew her, especially her family, whom she cherished. Sharon will live in the hearts of all who knew and loved her forever and always!
Sharon was predeceased by her late husband, Terrence Day, of Gananoque ON. daughter Kelly Day of Kingston ON. Mother Genevieve (Jenny) Szafran (nee Montague), of Syracuse, New York, Sister, Sandy Richards of LA Mirada, California. Brother, Gary Finley, of Highlands, New York. And sister Rebecca Milliman, of Lyons, New York.
She was survived by daughter Carol Day and son-in-law Paul Rourke. Son Corey Day and daughter-in-law Morgan Gillespie. Grandchildren Danika, Rhyley, Hudson, Salem, and Malcolm. Great-grandchildren Daxton and Denver. Brother Don Kunes, of Lyons, New York, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
