Douglas William Arniel

1935-2021

 

Passed peacefully at KHSC on September 29th, 2021. Survived by his loving wife and best friend Barbara (Loye) for 64 years, his twin sister Jean (Jim) Longfield and sisters-in-law Patsy Andersen and Fenni Loye. Loved by his children Steve (Suzanne), Sandi (Allie), Scott (Lia) and Sue Lanzo (Carmine). Cherished Poppi of Jamie (Jehna), Samantha (Travis) Arniel, Brendan (Shannon), Stephanie (Austan) Arniel, Jarret (Lindsey), Nicole (Jacob) and Abbey (Julian) Lanzo. Predeceased by parents Jimmy and Bea Arniel, brother Dick (Barb). In-laws Shirley and Ted Reynolds, John Loye, Doug Andersen Remembered by his nieces and nephews.

 

 Doug (Slugger) grew up in Kingston and in his earlier years played baseball, hockey, and football. Later he enjoyed curling, golf and was a very proud member of the KASE club. In his retirement he took great pride in assisting with the flower beds at The Landings Golf Course. Doug was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and loved to be part of their many adventures and accomplishments. He sometimes went great distances to support and cheer on many sporting events, concerts, dance recitals and hardly ever missed a graduation ceremony.

 

Rest In Peace you will be missed.

 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Partners in Mission Food Bank or UHKF - Cancer Centre of South Eastern Ontario.

Private Family Service will take place at James Reid Funeral Home on Friday, October 8, 2021.

All are welcome to join the family for a reception on Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 1:00 - 4:00 pm at Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. Please note that proof of full vaccination status with valid government ID is required to enter the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club for the reception.
