Obituary of Gladys Persella Benn

Gladys Benn
February 6, 1933 – September 27, 2021

Gladys Benn passed away at the John M Parrott Centre, Napanee, on September 27, 2021.    Gladys became part of our Ongwanada family when she was forty-one years old, being served by Ongwanada’s Community Care and attending Crescent Centre.   Through the years Gladys has warmed the hearts of everyone who knew her.   In the past years Gladys transitioned from being supported by our Host Family program to residing on “Spring Meadow” in the Parrott Centre.  A beloved member of our Ongwanada family – it would always be a treat to see Gladys stopping in at Crescent for a visit with friends. 

Gladys’ family would like to express their gratitude for the love and care Gladys received at Ongwanada.   In her niece Elaine’s words, “It’s hard to believe someone could have an impact on so many.  Whether at Ongwanada or The Parrott Centre, everyone loved her.”  It’s true – we are saddened by Gladys death, but reflect on all the special memories held in our heart. 

The family is planning a small service of remembrance for Gladys.  By invitation (to adhere to our protocols) more details to follow. 

Our heartfelt condolences continue to be extended to Gladys’ family, our Community Care and Host Family programs, her friends at Crescent Centre, and everyone who has had the privilege of knowing, loving and caring for Gladys through the years.
