Obituary of Doris June Steacy

Passed peacefully on Sunday August 15 Doris in her 95th year at Trillium Retirement Home in Kingston. She was born in Bath, ON and raised on the family farm along with her brother Don and sister Florence (Chadwick) both deceased.

She was predeceased by two husbands, Albert Ward (1972) and Lorne Steacy (2008). She will be missed by her children, Cliff (Terry) Ward, Janice (Tim) Shipton, Susan (Rob) Robertson, her step children, Ralph Steacy, Gary (Joanne) Steacy and Trina (James) Steacy. She was loved and will be missed by her grandchildren and great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In her early years, Doris worked at Kresge’s in Kingston. In 1965 she moved from Cataraqui to Devil Lake. She was an integral part in owning and managing Pine Haven Campground for forty years. She worked at Sears for over 20 years during the time she was running Pine Haven.

Her creative passions were many; knitting, sewing, cross-stitch, and quilting. She was very well-known for her baking and always had a little treat on hand to welcome all who came to visit. She was loving, kind and generous and will be remembered with love by all.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to all the staff at Trillium Retirement Home for their care and compassion throughout Doris’s stay there.

Cremation has already taken place. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will take place and attendance is limited. For those unable to attend in person, please click HERE to attend virtually by livestream.
