Obituary of Katharina Wagner

Katharina Wagner

November 23, 1928 – March 1, 2021

Katharina Wagner (nee Pfeiffer), 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, March 1, 2021 at Trillium Retirement and Care Community in Kingston, Ontario

Beloved wife to the late Andreas Wagner and mother to the late Christine Alley;  Sister to Maria (predeceased) and brothers Frank and Paul (both predeceased). She leaves her daughter Ingrid and her husband David Young; two grandsons Jason Young and his wife Sara and Matthew Young and his wife Leah; Son in law Doug Alley; sisters Elizabeth and Anna.

“Oma” was born in Semeljci, Yugoslavia to Valentin Pfeiffer and Anna (Hack). At a young age she migrated to Austria and later sailed by ship to Canada where she fell in love with and married  Andreas Wagner. She lived in “The Beaches” area of Toronto, before settling into Kingston, for the past 12 years, to be nearer her daughter, son in law and grandsons.

She was a hard working woman who did not like being idle. This was evident in the enormous garden that she tended to at her favorite summer place, the cottage on Wagner Lake near Uxbridge, Ontario. Many a sumptuous German meal was prepared there complete with a variety of fresh from the garden vegetables and salads.

In later years she enjoyed numerous trips to Cuba to escape the winter snow, with a dedicated group of German friends. She relished the lifestyle of fun in the sun and the dry heat which was healing to her.

She enjoyed a trip to Romania to see the roots of Andreas’s family. Most of her family had emigrated to Australia and she would quite often reminisce and fondly talk about her trip to visit with her family there. She came back with a “suitcase” full of souvenirs as a memory of her favorite journey.

She will be missed by all. She is with Andreas dancing to a good Waltz.

There is going to be a private family celebration of life and she will be placed with Andreas at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Toronto.
