He was a fine man. My father and Ron met in England on course and trained together at Kingston. Both had the great understanding and that special deep bond that comes from knowing each other's war as Fleet Air Arm pilots.
His son Derek became my best friend for many years of my boyhood. And we shared a flat in university.
The Swains were always welcoming and good to the boys of the neighborhood. I liked Ron's smile.
