Obituary of Philip Dodd
DODD, Philip "Rocky"
At the age of 55, surrounded by his family on March 8, 2018. Heartbreakingly, Phil lost his hard fought 4 year battle with cancer. He leaves behind the woman who never left his side, his wife, friend, and true love Laurie, their four amazing children of who he was endlessly proud; Andrew, Melissa Lothian (Kyle), Belle, and Connor and his soon to be born first grandson, who he so desperately had wanted to hold. He also leaves his loving mother Beryl Dodd, caring sisters Carole Letourneau (Troy), Janet Hunter (Bill), father-in-law Tom Kennedy, brother-in-law Alan Kennedy (Beth) and his many 'favourite' nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his father James. Phil fought cancer with an unending reserve of optimism, humour, and courage and had an unwavering positive outlook that awed everyone. Phil knew countless people through his work in the satellite business and through his joy of hockey (both playing and coaching his sons), baseball (Puck and Ball), golf, fishing, poker and riding his Harley. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. The family would like to thank the many physicians and nurses who helped care for Phil during these past four years. A Celebration of Phil’s Life will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm in the James Reid Funeral Home, Reception and Celebration Centre, 1900 John Counter Blvd., (please enter the funeral home through the rear parking lot doors). In Phil’s memory donations may be made to the U.H.K.F. (Kingston General Hospital Foundation).
