Obituary of Heather De Clair
DE CLAIR, Heather (nee Chapman)
We are saddened to announce that Heather passed away on March 6th at the age of 73. Born and raised on a dairy farm in the hamlet of Cooper, she moved to Kingston in 1964 after completing teacher’s college. Heather taught primary grades for over 30 years and was highly regarded by students, colleagues and parents alike. After her retirement, she enjoyed many hobbies including travelling, curling, playing bridge, Tai Chi, cheering on the Kingston Voyageurs, and eating butter tarts. A kind and loyal person, Heather had many friends and was a treasured aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Her greatest love and accomplishment, however, was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed beyond measure by Ellis, her husband of 53 years, Michelle and John, Shawn and Daniella, Jack, Stella and Noah, who can’t imagine a world without her.
We welcome all friends and family to join us in celebrating Heather’s life. Visitation will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Boulevard on Friday, March 9 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 10 in the Chapel at 11:00 am, and reception to follow. Donations may be made to the Heather De Clair Memorial Fund, a fund established at Central Public School where she first taught, to focus on reading at Chimp.net/groups/the-heather-de-clair-memorial-fund
