At age 92, of Kingston, Ontario, Russell passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with Cancer. Russell was born in Ottawa, Ontario on August 10, 1925. Russ was married to Kathleen Isabel Brown (nee Dean) on July 17, 1948; they were married almost 70 years. Russell owned an International Harvester dealership in Kingston (Russ Brown Farm Supplies). Upon leaving the farm equipment business he worked as a purchasing agent for Tackaberry Heating Supplies until his retirement. Russ enjoyed sports of all kinds but particularly golf and curling were his passion. He was an avid gardener and bridge player. He was also actively involved as a life member of the Pittsburgh Township Lions Club, a life member in the Kingston Royal Curling Club and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also an active member of St. Luke's Anglican Church and an organizer of the Annual Golf tournament. Russ is survived by his wife Kathleen Isabel Brown (nee Dean), daughter Deana Lyn Abbott (nee Brown), son-in-law Thomas George Abbott, son Derek Alan Brown, grandchildren Jennifer Lyn Abbott, Kathleen Katelyn Abbott (Max Dorville), Scott Clifford Brown, nieces Sandra Kirpatrick (Hugh Kirpatrick), Linda Rodney (Robert Rodney), and nephew Ken Brown (Sandra Brown). Russ is preceded in death by his son Scott Brown and his parents Thomas Jacob Brown and Francis Brown (nee Gamble) and brother Kenneth Brown. The family wishes to thank the staff of Helen Henderson Lodge for their extraordinary care and compassion over the past three years. The funeral service will be held at James Reid Funeral Home at 1900 John Counter Blvd, Kingston, ON, on Saturday February 3rd, 2018. Reverend Bill Clarke of St. Thomas Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held at 12:30 pm to 1:20 pm at James Reid Funeral Home followed by the Service at 1:30 pm in the chapel. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
