Obituary of Alfred Ronald Bouchard

Peacefully at Providence Care, Alfred Ronald Bouchard in his 84th year, left us to be with his beloved Lord on Saturday, January 20. Al was a faithful Roman Catholic enjoying the services at St Paul the Apostle with Father Leo until he became too breathless to attend, approximately at the same time Father Leo retired.

Al worked for many years for DuPont Canada in Montreal Quebec and later in life, as he retired from DuPont, was employed as an offset printer for Jumar's in our beautiful city of Kingston. He also spent his senior years delivering for and helping the family business, The Flower Shop and Pearl's Sweets and Gift Baskets, with very few complaints.

Alfred enjoyed Tai Chi in his early senior years and continued for some time before his congestive heart failure limited his activity.

Pearl Poffley, wife of 24 years, along with his 'best dog ever', Misty, bids him farewell and is praying for him as he makes his final journey.

He leaves behind his cherished sister Margaret Wills (Donald, deceased) of Brossard, Quebec with his nephews, David, Jimmy (deceased), and Brent of Toronto; and Al's younger brother Layton (deceased), son Matthew, and children were forever in his thoughts; brother in law Victor Smith (Dorothy, deceased) of Toronto who he had many memorable vacations with.

He will be sadly missed by his children with his former wife; daughter Belinda Bancroft (Doug) of Harrowsmith, son  Ronald Bouchard of Belleville, and daughter Sandra Freeburn (Mark) of Flinton. And his well loved grandchildren from his offspring; Evan, Eric, Nicole, Zachary, Andrew and Jessica.

Al's stepson Robert Poffley (Susan), who Al considered as his son, will take away many fond memories of Al, with their children Matthew, William, Sydney and Kyle. As well his stepdaughter Patricia Mooney (Chuck) will take away early memories of Al and his school chauffeuring for his grandchildren Alexandra and Rachel, his perfect model for his amateur photography. Alexandra (Cody) from Alberta brought to Al his first great grandchildren, Blake 5 and Mason 14 months, and he adored them immensely.

A mass of repose soul will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 1111 Taylor- Kidd Blvd., a simple gathering in God's house is what he wished for, on Saturday, February 3 at 1:00pm.

Pearl and her family would like to thank Palliative Care and Heritage 2 for their kindness and helpfulness to Alfred, trying to make a difficult and sad situation easier for all concerned. And thanks to our many friends and neighbours who have helped us for many years since Al became disabled.
