Obituary of Douglas Bruce Hitchcock

Douglas Bruce Hitchcock
Passed away peacefully at the Belleville General Hospital on Sunday, November 5, 2017, at the age of 81.  Doug beloved husband of the late Barbara Hitchcock (Bustard).  Loving father of daughter Jane Pichie of Kingston and son David Hitchcock (Mona) of Ottawa and grandfather of Venus, Hazel and Clare.  Survived by his siblings Irene Hack, Myrtle McGee, Florence Francis (Eddie), Jim Hitchcock (Judy), Keith Hitchcock, Bev Silver (Jim), and Gary Hitchcock (Agnes). Doug was predeceased by his parents Bruce Hitchcock and Marguerite (Dunlop) as well as his siblings Margaret Lindsay, Rita McCalpin, and Don Hitchcock.  Doug will be remembered by many nieces and nephews.  A heartfelt thank you is extended to nephew Mark Hitchcock and wife Mary, friend Doreen Allardyce and nurse Mary Brown and husband Bob for the extra care and time that was given to Doug, as well to the staff at the BTSU.  Doug was a long-time member of IBEW, an employee of McGowen’s Electric and Queens University and enjoyed his cottage, fishing, hunting and spending time with his family.  Doug’s family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, on Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 1 -1:50pm, followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 2:00 pm.  Inurnment will be held at the Cataraqui Cemetery where Doug will be reunited with his beloved Barbara.  For those who wish donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
